Artist Statement

I am trying to create a compelling visual experience with my oil paintings and collages. I work from an initial concept and create a basic structure, spontaneously engaging in a dialogue with the materials. As shapes, lines, and the palette emerge I work to bring forth an image that will provide the viewer with a feeling, a thought, or just a place to reflect. I think the resulting work reflects an optimism that we all strive to hold onto in a world that can be simultaneously frantic and messy and beautiful.
