Meet Mark Zimmerman

Mark Zimmerman is an artist and musician featured in Abstract PXV, a group show on display at Art Work Gallery for December 2023 and January 2024.

Artist Biography

Mark has been a creator of art and music since childhood in his hometown of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. Adhering to the DIY ethos of the music scene he loves and participates in; Mark continues to challenge himself by means of trial and error in multiple mediums. He believes in an organic engagement between artist and viewer, so leaves his abstract paintings completely open to interpretation. His paintings of birds and trees are representative of the love for nature he experiences running the numerous trails of Pennsylvania.

Artist Statement

Even though my abstract work is open to interpretation, they do come about as a tool in my struggle with anxiety and depression. I rarely use brushes on them because I find using my hands feels more cathartic. The birds and trees I paint happen during times of inner calm.
