Artist Statement
I enjoy both plein air painting and painting from my own reference photos I have taken locally and on my travels. I like to paint landscapes, seascapes, buildings and architecture, and animals. My focus is on good composition, shadows, light, and color. I love textures in old barns, stormy skies, interesting lines, and exaggerated shadows.
Thoughts on Grounding
Painting is grounding for me because it is the definition of being in the moment. When I am in the zone I have complete focus and think of nothing else but my vision and the paint going on the canvas. It is actually very therapeutic and my go-to activity.
